As Mexico's drug wars rage, Obama lowers U.S. drug czar's job

It turns out the U.S. now has a new drug czar, the guy in charge of the war on drugs.  But announcement of the position wasn't, presumably, important enough for the president:

So when Vice President Who's-Its showed up Wednesday to formally announce the Obama administration's drug czar and make his familiar comment about only being No. 2, the political world got the signal instantly: This job is not important enough for the commander-in-chief to do the announcing.

COMMENT:  And this comes with, as we report below, a drug war escalating on the U.S.-Mexican border.  This administration has a tin ear on foreign policy, as witness the now wrecked appointment of dictator-loving Charles Freeman to be head of the National Intelligence Council.  The president must get a couple of nights of quality sleep, and start to move decisively.
